The RHS mission and charitable activities

The RHS is the UK’s leading gardening charity dedicated to advancing horticulture and promoting gardening. Our charitable purpose is the encouragement and improvement of the science, art and practice of horticulture in all its branches.

The RHS believes that horticulture and gardening enrich people’s lives. We are committed to bringing the personal and social benefits of gardens and gardening to a diverse audience of all ages. Our goal is to help people share a passion for plants, to encourage excellence in horticulture in private and public spaces, to help create healthy, sustainable communities and support long-term environmental improvements.

As a charity, we depend on the support and generosity of others to help us make a difference. Our activities are funded through members’ subscriptions as well as donations, sponsorship and income from our gardens, flower shows, shops and plant centres.
