National Tree Week

7 November 2008

Events across the country are in the final planning stage as the 34th National Tree Week draws near.

From 26 November until 7 December, The Tree Council will be reminding people that it is the perfect time of year for planting trees, and pushing home the message that trees are essential to the UK’s green future.

‘The presence of trees in our environment is so normal to us that we tend to forget their immense value and take them for granted' said Pauline Buchanan Black, Director General of The Tree Council. ‘Without trees, life on earth would be intolerable.’

It is estimated that 500,000 adults and children will take part in a tree planting event somewhere in the country be that in a private garden, school, nature reserve or park.
